A Few Things...

Almost 2 weeks ago we went to Malibu, to the Getty Villa which I've been wanting to go see for well over a year now. It was cool - a very European feel (I imagine, as I have not been there). I got to wear my new FO - the Lush & Lacy cardigan by http://www.sweaterbabe.com/ I used 5 + a tiny bit of the 6th skeins of Lush by Classic Elite.Husband and I spent a few days this past week in San Diego - we stayed downtown in a cute historic hotel with very slow elevators, checked out the zoo, and also toured Old Town. Fun trip and fantastic weather! No pictures to show however, guess I wasn't in the mood for pics this week!

I also cut my hair and for the requestors, here's a peek:

I am undecided if I like it or not, but I do miss my curls...they'll be on hiatus for a while. =(

The 2nd semester (out of 6) of school starts tomorrow and I am so ready to get started. They are having us take 5 classes this semester - wish me luck!
There is one called "Medical Lectures" which I am most intrigued by... who knows what we'll learn in that one, but I bet it will be interesting.

Chance to Breathe

I made it through the semester - its been a Looong time since I've taken summer school and I don't think I've ever taken 4 week long classes.

Hi, this course is about xyz and hey, the mid-term is next week! Weird.

But, anyways - 2 weeks to recover and surely, work on some knitting, etc!

Last weekend I cranked out almost an entire Lush and Lacy cardigan - shocking, until you find out its on size 10 needles and I had nothing else to do! Its so cute and I will post pictures when its done, to do its cuteness justice. The LYS had a 50 percent off sale and I couldn't resist the previously unaffordable project purchase! I love their sales!

I'm still "working" on the green socks, but lost some steam on those.

I leave you with the last of the random craftiness from our Skills class ( I will miss that class, the crafts were like the adult version of nap time!)

Two weeks left of Neurology class & I'm trying to keep my sanity by indulging in craftiness! Got my first dress done this week...well, really close to being done :

We got to make our own stamps in Skills class & I found a super cute elephant picture and made up some postcards, gift bags, etc....drop me a line & I'll mail you a postcard!

And working on some green socks for Husband. The color came out just how it looks in "real life"...There is a CUTE sock pattern with bobbles in the new Interweave that comes out in August and I can't wait to make them. I'm not much of a bobble lover at all, but I think I could handle them on socks.
Probably more from me during the break between Summer & Fall semesters!

More Crafty Things

Today is halfway through the summer semester - it doesn't sound like much, but it definitely feels like an accomplishment! In "skills" class we've tried our hand at leatherwork and mosaics since I posted anything - nothing fantastic, but some fun mediums that I'm glad I tried out:

That's about it for me - I hope to CO for a sock (yes, something KNITTED finally) before the end of the weekend. I'm craving a big project, but I am on a yarn diet until I am working again this fall and can afford to....anyone working on any knitting projects they would recommend?

What's OT?

Just in case you're wondering what it is I'm studying - check out this hilarious "OT Rap" on You Tube that explains it pretty well!

Recent Creations

Whew - the first week of school was quite the ride! It hasn't been THAT long since I've been enrolled, but there is SO much administration to take care of that I just don't remember doing in undergrad. Thankfully our days are balanced with a little art-making in the afternoons to take the edge off - behold my collage! (and a sewing project beneath it)

At home, I finished the loopy cowl which looks like it could've crawled around on the ocean floor at some point.

And....the sewing is slow but great - finished a paneled skirt and have a baby tunic on the way for a shower coming up soon. Sewing is normally really fast & fun which is a great antedote to long days at school.

Alright, must get back to studying muscles of the shoulder - yeah, fun!

Loopy News

Today was one of the best birthdays I've had in a while and these last few days of vacation between work and school are doing wonders for my stress level.

Been knitting from the stash since I am on a yarn diet. Grabbed some purple wool and cast on for a project from the original Stitch & Bitch book - the Loopy Velez Cowl. I had low expectations, but the loops were a lot of fun and I think I could work this in the winter time. Should have a FO picture up by the weekend...

Today also brought a new permanent resident to our already crowded home, but I could hardly complain: a sewing machine! Woo hoo! Been craving one of these for years - knitting's getting a little competition!
